• 3 days trekking (with diner and third night in Pan Hou Village)

A trek day begins at 9am and ends in the afternoon, depending on walking pace and the itinerary chosen, by between 15 and 16h. Lunch for participants are  provided as part of our services.

They are leaded by a local guide,  member of a minority of the Song Chay Mountains (our local guides only speak Vietnamese).

The duration of the Walk and the topography details noted in our documents are only approximations: we can possibly adapt your itinerary according to your expectations and the level of your group.


Option 1

First Day: Panhou - Khòa Hạ - Giàng Hạ

You will leave Pan Hou with your local guide at 9am to explore the nearby mountains through tropical forests and rice terraces.

After a three hours walk, you are taking a break in a village of the Red Dao for lunch. By necessity, they have sculted the mountainside and use its water courses to grow rice. These laborious adjustments who enable them to live in the heights, offer you some unique landscapes to contemplate. The cooler climate and fresh water in abundance also contribute to the growth of lush tea trees.

Before reaching another Red Dao village, a two hours walk will allow you to discover the local vegetation, to meet with the local people and observe them in their daily activities.

Second Day: Giàng Hạ - Nậm Nghí - Ho Pien

After having  breakfast with your hosts, you are resuming your trekking through the cassava fields, the forests, the tea plantations towards the valley. Three hours of walking are bringing you to Nam Nghi, a Red Dao village for a lunch break. You will continue your Hike by ascending the mountains through the tea plantations. You will arrive in the late afternoon to a H'mong family house where you will have diner and will spend the evening and night.

Third Day: Ho Pien - Yen Son - Panhou

You can enjoy the calm of this morning in the high mountains and the friendliness of the family around the fireplace. After breakfast, you continue your walk through the bamboo forests, rice terraces to the valley Yen Its also where live red Yao. One of the families in the village will welcome you for lunch. You will leave following along the river to reach Pan Hou Village in mid-afternoon.

Option 2


First day: Panhou - Nam Khoa - Nam Ai

You will leave Panhou Village and the Lang Giang Valley for Nam Khoa, and then will continue by going through the Gate of Heaven, a pass surrounded by forest with rare tropical and temperate plants species such as chestnut trees and orchids. You are greeted by a family from the village for lunch. Your resume your walk after this break to Nam Ai, a village of Yao with long tunic isolated at the top of the mountains.

Second Day : Nam Ai- Km38 - Ho Pien

"This morning, you are resuming your trek by walking further into Nam Son Valley and passing over the montain to the 38th kilometer. 

After lunch at a Red Dao family's house, you head to the top of the mountain to Ho Pien through the tea plantations, the bamboo forests. You will arrive in the late afternoon to a Hmong house. You will spend the evening with the local family, will have diner with them and will spend the night.

Third Day: Ho Pien - Nam Nghi- Panhou

After breakfast, you descend towards the Lang Giang valley to Nam Nghi, a Red Yao village famous for its Shan Tuyet tea. From the village, located halfway up the mountain, the rice terraces extend out of sight. The daily life of Red Yao is also punctuated by their farming activities in the highlands that include harvesting rice. Red Dao women wear bright red outfits with some indigo keys. After lunch, you cross the canopy forest to return to Pan Hou Village.

First day:  Panhou - Yen Son -Ho Pien

Your trekking is starting at 9 am. In this morning, you are going through a village of Dao long tunics that have installed their house on the mountainside near the terraces rice fields,  a bamboo forest to get to a village red Yao forests. A family is welcoming you for your lunch break . They are inviting  you to drink the local tea and to relax while waiting for lunch. But you could also decide to join your local guide to witness or to participate to the preparation of the meal. Well fed and rested, you are climbing the mountain up to Ho Pien through the tea plantations. You will arrive in the late afternoon in a Hmong' house where you will have  diner and will spend the night.

Accommodation: H'mong homestay Duration of the walk : 5 hours

B - Pan Hou, L - Red Dao, D- Hmong Topography : +400m/-100m

Second Day: Ho Pien - Nam Nghi- Giang Ha

Third  Day: Giàng Hạ - Khòa Hạ - Panhou - out

Your trek is ending today with a walk to the valley and the village of Khoa Ha where you are having lunch before surrounding the mountain through the bamboo forests and the terraced rice fields to join the Thuong Nguyen valley. You are reaching Pan Hou Village in the mid-afternoon.

Second day: Ho Pien - Km38 - Nam Ai

You leave your host after breakfast. You are going down to the valley through the tea plantations and the rice terraces, the bamboo forest. The path first is passing by few Man Ta Pan houses isolated before the Tay houses on stilts. A Red Dao family is welcoming you in their home for lunch. It will take 3 hours walking through the door of heaven to reach Nam Ai. You are spending the evening in a tay or a Yao with long tunic family. This moment will be a great opportunity to learn more about their lifestyle.
